2020 Emergency Homeschooling COVID-19 Survey

You are invited to participate in a survey conducted by the Coalition for Responsible Home Education (CRHE) in conjunction with Dixie State University. The purpose of this survey is to conduct research on how families in the United States are coping with school closures due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Responses may be used by CRHE to create appropriate online resources. Responses may also be used in scholarly publications.

This survey is open to anyone who is 18 years of age or older and who lives in the United States with at least one child who is being homeschooled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project aside from potentially uncomfortable feelings. If you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point. You are welcome to take the survey at a later date. Your answers will not be counted until you hit ‘send’ on the survey’s final page.

You will have the option to provide your name or a pseudonym so that CRHE can quote you in advocacy materials (see examples here). If you choose not to supply a name or pseudonym, a pseudonym may be assigned to you. The survey authors may quote anything you enter in a text box. The survey asks for your zip code. Other than this, the survey will not collect any other personal information. SurveyGizmo automatically captures your IP address and your longitude and latitude; these will not be reported in any way.

Should you have any technical problems or questions about the survey, please contact survey author Chelsea McCracken here. If you feel your rights have been violated, you may contact Dixie State University’s Institutional Review Board Chairperson Tiffany Petersen at or (435) 879-4806. If you have any other questions, you may contact CRHE at
