Celebrating 10 years of making homeschool safe

In 2013, a small group of homeschool alumni came together to address a problem: the use of homeschooling to isolate, neglect, and abuse children. They created the Coalition for Responsible Home Education with one goal in mind: to make homeschool safe.

Ten years later, we’re proud of the work we’ve done to advocate for homeschooled children’s rights. We wouldn’t have made it this far without the support of people like you. This December, join us in looking back at the past decade’s victories and envisioning the future of homeschool reform.

$10K for 10 Years

We have some exciting news! December marks our 10th anniversary, and we’re grateful for the chance to make homeschool safe for the past decade. We’re also grateful for the generous support of our colleagues and friends, who have committed to making this our biggest fundraiser ever: $10K for 10 Years.

Starting today and through December, CRHE board chair Carmen Longoria-Green will match up to $5,000 in donations to CRHE, just as she did last year.

But that’s not all. This year, CRHE supporters Caleb and Hannah Lowery will also match up to a second $5,000. That means, for our 10th anniversary, every dollar you give doubles up to $10,000

There’s never been a better time to support our work to make homeschool safe. We’ve spent our 10th year reaching incredible milestones, like:

  • Making major media appearances with Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Amazon Prime’s Shiny Happy People, the Washington Post, NBC News, Vice News, Huffpost, and other national media outlets to talk about homeschooling
  • Presenting on homeschool abuse cases at the internationally recognized Crimes Against Children Conference
  • Releasing Charting Your Own Course, a first-of-its-kind college and career preparedness guide for homeschooled students and homeschool alumni
  • Testifying in support of a North Dakota bill that helps homeschooled children with learning disabilities (which passed into law!)

That’s just a glimpse into the vital work we’ve done to fight for homeschooled children. And we’ve got even bigger plans for the future. Here’s a preview of what we plan to do in the next year alone:

  • Launch a first-of-its-kind virtual training program to educate stakeholders about the dangers that homeschooled children face
  • Mark the second annual Day of the Homeschooled Child with a memorial event
  • Develop our policy recommendations into model legislation for lawmakers

We couldn’t do this work without the support of people like you. We are so grateful for your incredible support over the past 10 years. You’ve truly made a difference in homeschooled children’s lives.  Your gift today helps us continue to help even more children. Please give today.
